Material LiftEssex Rise Corporation was founded in 1946 as a Materials Handling Equipment (platform lift, frieght lift, hydraulic lift, mezzanine lift) dealer/representative involved in the sale and installation of cranes and VRC ( vertical reciprocating conveyor) / conveying equipment. Territories serviced were the New York metropolitan area, the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic States. Some light manufacturing of custom (VCR) conveying equipment was also part of the business for equipment not commercially available at the time.

DumperOne of the products represented at the time was "Cesco" Dumpers (dumper, skip hoist cable dumper, container dumper, drum dumper) out of Los Angeles, California. In 1952, Essex Rise purchased the manufacturing rights of "Cesco" and moved its manufacturing facility to Newark, NJ. At about the same time, the manufacture of small hydraulic lifts began for use in retail stores, warehousing and manufacturing plants on the east coast. In the early 1960’s, our first Material Lift (platform lift, frieght lift, hydraulic lift, mezzanine lift)was manufactured for high lift applications based on a winding drum and cable operation.

Since those early days, the manufacture of Dumpers, Material Lifts, VRC(vertical reciprocating conveyor), Platform Lifts, Mezzanine Lifts, Frieght Lifts, Hydraulic Lifts, Skip hoist dumpers, Skip hoists, Container dumpers, Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors (VRC) had become ever increasingly a bigger portion of the business and required that representing other manufacturers be phased out. Essex Rise has relocated twice since the Newark location, both times expanding into larger production facilities. New products have been introduced over the years like Inverters for P/M users and Column Lifts (platform lift, frieght lift, hydraulic lift, mezzanine lift) for the fine powder and pharmaceutical industry. To date, over 8,000 units have been provided worldwide. We have the engineering expertise and staff to provide custom designed solutions from stand-alone equipment to large materials lifts (platform lift, frieght lift, hydraulic lift, mezzanine lift) / material handling systems, VRC ( vertical reciprocation conveyor) for all industries.

From Drums of Powdered Chemicals, to Tote Bins of Plastic Pellets, a Skip Hoist Cable Dumper is the solution for discharging the contents of any container into your Process System. We have manufactured Skip Hoist Cable Dumpers for all industries from Automobile Parts Manufacturing to Waste Disposal.
Bulk items such as Aggregates, Soils, Fly Ash, Metal Scrap, etc. can be handled using a skip designed for accepting loose materials and loaded with conveyors, feeders or bucket loaders. Industries such as Steel, Mining, and Recycling are typical for these applications.
We only use brands such as Allen Bradley, SEW-Eurodrive, and SKF to name a few.
Another Skip Hoist Cable Dumper was used for transferring 2,400 pounds of chewing gum base components into a mixer. It handled a specially designed cart that was compatible with other equipment in the plant and was lifted with forks to avoid an overhead hold down which would have restricted material discharge. The Skip Hoist travels 14'-3" at a speed of (40) feet per minute and operates (24) hours per day, (6) days per week. Roller chain was used in lieu of cable to provide a powered down feature that the customer desired and also allowed for an increased dumping angle.
When you need to discharge the contents of a container, the Hydraulic Dumper is the answer. Designed and manufactured to match your specific requirements, an Essex-Rise Dumper will perform as intended upon delivery.
Hydraulic Dumpers are used in Industries such as Automobile Parts, Building Products, Chemicals, Food and Beverage, Home Products, Waste Reclamation, etc. Typical examples are; dumping tote bins of small parts into finishing equipment, dumping steel totes of chopped fiberglass for manufacturing roofing shingles, dumping cardboard gaylords of polyurethane pellets into an extruder, dumping bales of plastic bottles onto a conveyor for sorting and separating, etc.

Essexrise Corporation and IEDCO (Industrial Equipment & Design Company) have established a relationship permitting us to join forces in the marketing, sales, engineering and production of the Column Lift based product line. These products are specifically directed towards the pharmaceutical and food products industries that require a clean and hygienic method of materials handling for Bulk Bags, Drums, IBC's and other bulk containers. We have also used this technology to provide hygienic Material Lifts for Lifting loads between floors and mezzanines. Controls are PLC based using an HMI operator panel and can be connected to facility networks for data acquisition and process validation.

The 4-Post Material Lift is powered Up/Down via momentary contact pushbutton with E-stop at each level and is equipped with upper/lower travel, upper over travel and slack cable limit switches. Motor starting is via a full voltage reversing magnetic contractor with solid-state overload, phase loss and jam protection. Car guides and rails are machined Elevator Tee rails with either sliding or roller guides for smooth car travel. Cable sheaves are machined steel with permanently sealed and lubricated ball bearings. The (2) lifting cables have a 5:1 safety factor minimum and include a free-fall safety to prevent the platform from an uncontrolled decent should the cables break.
